🎉 Thrilled to announce that our team has been accepted into the prestigious McGill Dobson Cup Competition and Bootcamp program! 🎉 As we embark on this entrepreneurial journey, we're proud to rep CoLab Ed in this dynamic landscape of innovation and business.
The McGill Dobson Cup offers a unique platform with four distinct tracks – Environmental Enterprise, Health Sciences Enterprise, Social Impact Enterprise, and Technology Driven Enterprise. It's incredible to be part of a program that not only fosters diversity but also brings together a spectrum of talents from various faculties – alumni, professors, and current students, creating a rich and collaborative ecosystem.
Our journey kicked off tonight with an inspiring session led by the phenomenal Anthony Palermo from Connect&GO 🌟 His way of "staying curious" and navigating the entrepreneurial path left us motivated and ready to take on the challenges ahead. Anthony shared so many valuable insights, all through honest and humourous storytelling!
Here are some of my takeaways that I hope other entrepreneurs can learn from.
- Create a lean dream team without overlapping expertise
- Ask potential customers direct questions about your idea and don't be afraid to ask how much they're willing to pay for it
- Be willing to innovate with your early customers to set a strong foundation by asking them, 'What do you want this product to do?'
- Keep in frequent conversation with your mentors and carefully craft questions to get honest feedback
- Don't underestimate the importance of marketing and branding as a B2B company. What feels like harping on to anyone and everyone in your network will lead to growth
