How is CoLab different from Teams, Google Groups or community platforms?

Who uses CoLab?

Can we collaborate across schools, districts and organizations?
Yes, that’s exactly what CoLab is built for. Educators work across buildings, time zones and schedules, and isolation is a leading reason they burn out or leave. CoLab connects each person to the people, resources and support they need, whenever they need it. Teams can collaborate without everyone being online at once. One login gives you your private communities and the open CoLab community, so your resources, connections and contributions stay in one place.
Does CoLab replace our PD providers or coaches?
No. CoLab works alongside them. We build a community of practice around the training, coaching and programs you already invest in, so educators keep learning between sessions, questions get answered, and what works is shared across your schools. The impact of every session goes further. PD providers can also run their own communities on CoLab, connected to yours.
Can PD providers and associations host their programs on CoLab?
Yes. PD providers use CoLab as the home for their programs, where participants find learning progressions and resources, connect with each other, and keep collaborating between sessions. CoLab surfaces where participants need support and what they need next, so your team can focus on what you do best: supporting educators. The learning keeps going long after the workshop ends. How does CoLab work with the tools we already use?
Built by educators, CoLab makes your systems simpler instead of adding one more to manage. Sign in with Google, link CoLab from your LMS or staff portal, and bring in resources from Drive, OneDrive or any site. It works the same in Google and Microsoft districts.
Is our data secure?
Yes. CoLab is built to meet district privacy requirements, and we take privacy and security seriously. You own your data, and it is never sold or shared without your consent. CoLab is built for adults working in education and is not designed for student use. We’re glad to walk your team through the details.
How long does setup take?
Most teams are collaborating within minutes. CoLab is intuitive from the start, so there’s no lengthy onboarding or technical training. Before launch, we work with you to design your community around your goals, including seeding resources and discussions and adding your branding. That way your team walks into an active community on day one. Then invite your team with a join link, QR code or email. Our team is always on hand, but most users never need us.
How is CoLab priced?
Every plan includes unlimited members, so your community can grow without your costs growing with it. Team and Starter plans are listed on our pricing page. For districts, networks and associations, we put together a plan around your size and goals. See pricing
Can I get started for free?
Yes. Educators and leaders can join the open CoLab community free, forever. Team and Starter plans include a 45-day free trial, and larger organizations can start with a paid pilot credited toward the first year.
