Mentorship in Motion: CoLab's Journey Through the X-1 Accelerator Program
We at CoLab are immensely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the X-1 Accelerator program through McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship. Our experience has been nothing short of transformative, largely thanks to the expertise and generous feedback from our esteemed panel of judges:
David Shemesh: National Business Development & Strategy, Technology Sector, BDC
Gregory Ogorek: Partner, iGen Partners | Investor and Serial Entrepreneur | MedTech
Isaac da Silva Aboo: Venture Capital Investor | Principal at NGIF Capital | GreenTech
Marie Josee Lamothe: President Tandem International inc. | Corporate Director (TSX) | Professor & Directorship at McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship
We are truly blown away by the time and willingness these judges have shown in supporting us beyond the pitch event. Their guidance has been invaluable, not only in refining our pitch but also in shaping our business strategy and development. Their insights have provided us with clear steps to further validate the market need for CoLab.
This experience of mentorship and support aligns perfectly with CoLab's mission to make collaborative practices a regular part of the teaching profession. Imagine having a network of teachers you could rely on when facing challenges or needing help to solve a problem. It's a two-way street that requires teachers to be vulnerable, open up about their current practices and challenges, and be willing to hear and implement feedback to improve.
Whether it's sharing a unit plan for critique or trying a new strategy that doesn't quite work out, these interactions are crucial for growth. Teachers are lifelong learners who care deeply about their craft. By fostering stronger peer-to-peer connections, we believe their roles will become easier, they will grow as professionals, and ultimately, their students will receive a higher quality education.
The support we've received through the X-1 Accelerator program reinforces our belief in the power of collaboration and mentorship. We're excited to bring this same level of support and growth opportunities to teachers through CoLab, addressing teacher burnout, improving retention, and enabling educators to thrive professionally while better supporting their students.
Once again, our heartfelt thanks to the judges and the entire X-1 Accelerator program. Your guidance is helping us shape the future of education, one collaboration at a time.
